THINKING ABOUT CHANGING
FROM YOUR TRADITIONAL PHONE SERVICE
TO VOICE OVER INTERNET PROTOCOL (VOIP)?
SAFE Security® has the solution to keep your home security system connected to our monitoring stations.
For many the allure of using new and emerging technologies such as VOIP is great---it’s easy to use and more affordable than standard phone service. Alarm systems traditionally use standard phone lines to communicate with monitoring stations in the event of a break-in or fire. When the system goes into alarm mode it picks up the phone line and listens for dial tone before dialing out: VOIP doesn't have the same tone and causes the system to make intermittent attempts to dial out. VOIP services can also be temporarily unavailable due to scheduled or unscheduled network outages.
have recently changed to VOIP, or
are considering changing to VOIP, or
if you have decided to eliminate your land line altogether,
SAFE Security® offers a cellular backup module that will allow your system to communicate with the monitoring station via a cellular network, eliminating the need for you to have a traditional land line.
DOES YOUR DSL SERVICE
SHARE THE SAME LINE AS YOUR PHONE?
If your DSL service shares a line with your phone you will need to purchase a DSL Filter when you purchase your security system. A shared line can cause difficulties with your security system’s ability to communicate with the monitoring station in the event of an emergency.
